Pahua (pa-wa) is the solo project of Mexican singer, songwriter, producer and DJ Pau Sotomayor, also lead singer of the band Sotomayor. This new project blends folkloric sounds with electronic, lo-fi beats and lyrics with messages of self love and empowerment.

Pahua made her debut with her EP Ofrenda, which was described as “an ode to nature and femininity” by Rolling Stone Mexico and was played far and wide thanks to the promising and early support from key tastemakers around the world including the likes of Jamz Supernova at BBC Radio 1Xtra in the UK, Colors Studios in Germany, NPR and radio stations across the U.S. including KCRW, KEXP, KCSN, KROQ, WXPN and Vocalo, and a chorus of support from her native Mexico.

Following Ofrenda, Pahua released her EP Ofrenda Remixes with the help of an impressive lineup of collaborators including Jiony, Cero39, Klik & Frik and Jitwam. Pillars of the nascent electronic music scene emerging from Latin America, these artists reimagine Pahua’s debut with an exciting variety of influences from trip hop to funk to nu Jazz, and New York house all the while drawing from their Latin roots.

Pahua also was recently featured on Mark Cast’s track “Quiéreme”, which received over 20K streams over it’s first weekend, reached #12 on Twitter MX’s Trending Topics, and received support from Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike on the XDM Radio show.

Now Pahua is bringing us “La Cura” with Spanish singer and composer, Gizmo Varillas. Featuring soft and sweet guitars alongside comforting vocals, “La Cura” invites you to connect with the profound and live life in the best way. It is a song of reflection and happiness.
